Introducing Somatic Integration Massage for Trauma (SIMT)! This is a new massage modality designed by Willow Wood Therapeutic Massage to foster post traumatic growth through safe presence in the body. There is a language within the body that gets disrupted through traumatic experiences. At a neurological level, the cost is a disconnect with our bodies that causes postural and functional problems, as well as mental and behavioral health issues, difficulties with proprioception, interoception, balance, and chronic pain.
SIMT by Willow Wood Therapeutic Massage combines applied neurology, body awareness, lymphatic work, and traditional massage techniques to integrate the body and mind into a state of regulated presence and felt safety.
For best results, SIMT should be experienced weekly for at least 6 weeks. It is also recommended that you are under the care of a licensed mental health professional while processing trauma.
Each SIMT session involves three parts:
1) Assessment
2) Specialized manual therapy unique to your needs
3) Reflection and homework
